- 1/2 cup cherry jam or preserves
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, mixing well.
- Stir in vanilla extract, then gradually mix in flour and chopped nuts until just combined.
- Shape the dough into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thick. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out shapes, cutting out centers from half.
- Place cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden around edges.
- Cool completely before spreading cherry jam on solid cookies and topping with cut-out hearts. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
