  • 2 lbs starchy potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups Gruyère cheese, shredded (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer half of the potato slices at the bottom, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle half of the cheese on top. Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
