  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 1 cup freshly brewed espresso (cooled)
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brew espresso and let it cool slightly. Add coffee liqueur if desired.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy (about 5 minutes).
  3. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture and layer them in a dish.
  5. Spread half the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat layering with remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone.
  6. Dust the top layer with cocoa powder. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
