- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated

- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat a baking dish with nonstick spray.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté minced garlic for about 1 minute. Stir in heavy cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until combined.
- Layer half of the sweet potato slices in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the sweet potatoes and sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat layering with remaining sweet potatoes, cream mixture, and finish with the last layer of cheddar cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
